We were blown away by Amy Atkinson’s incredible transformation!
The Tasmanian mum-of-four has lost 25kg by following the 28 Day Weight Loss Challenge and dropped from a size 26 to a size 16 – and she looks fantastic!
“After the birth of my fourth child, weighing in at 162.4kg, I knew it was time to do something about my weight,” says Amy. “I wanted to do it for my children.”

How Amy jumped on the healthy bandwagon
Amy, 28, says she came across The Healthy Mummy on Facebook after a friend added her to a group.
“After reading so many inspiring and motivating stories of mums who had been a similar weight to what I was, I knew it was possible to do it,” she says.
“Before that I thought it wasn’t possible. I dreamed of being that girl on the front of magazines with the heading ‘mum loses half her weight’.”
Amy began using the free recipes on The Healthy Mummy website before purchasing her first Smoothie. Shortly after her smoothie purchase, she signed up to the 28 Day Weight Loss Challenge.
“I find that having your food planned out for you is every mum’s dream,” she says.
Amy also loves how you can do all the 28 Day Weight Loss Challenge exercises and workout videos at home, in the lounge room and with the kids.
“…And when it’s time to Tabata or DanceFit my kids love to join in with me. I can do it in comfort in my own home (and in my pyjamas sometimes) and I don’t have to worry about finding a babysitter for my children.”
Overcoming several hardships
But it’s not been an easy road to victory – Amy suffered a difficult break up.
“During my journey I have suffered a complicated break up which was a very stressful time for myself and my children,” she says.
“We had to live with my parents for five months. I also gained 10kg during this time but The Healthy Mummy Facebook support group got me back on my feet and got me motivated again.”
Becoming a more active mum
Amy says after nearly losing 60kg and weighing 107.2kg, she feels better than ever! “I’m a more active mum, we go to the playground now heaps, I’m able to run around with my children, go down the slide with them,” she says. “I have heaps more energy and so much more self confidence.
“But I still have just under 30kg until I get to my goal weight of 80kg, but I know that it’s possible and I’m loving every second of getting there.”
Amy’s top tips for living a healthy lifestyle
The single mum says she lives each day as it comes.
“Don’t give up if you have a bad day, it’s ok to have them. I’ve had too many to count but each new day comes and I keep pushing for my goals,” she says.
“Love yourself a long the way. My journey as excelled since I have learned to love myself. I feel like each day I’m able to shine and be me.
“Don’t be upset if you don’t see those scales moving, we didn’t put the weight on overnight so we won’t lose it that quick either. Take measurements and photos at the start because when you have that bad day I find looking back on old photos in enough to get me back on track.”
Being a great role model to her kids
Amy says her biggest achievement in this whole journey is being the mum she’s always wanted to be for her children.
“I’m a great role model to them, the meal planning have taught me how to cook, they’ve taught me how to eat properly and they have shown me that we can be a healthy family and most importantly given me the chance to be a mum,” she says.
“My life is completely different now to what it was. I’m able to go out and live my life with my children. I can go out and see the world. I’m a healthy happy mum and it’s all because of The Healthy Mummy!”
