When you have BIG NUMBERS on the scales to lose, getting started on your weight loss journey can often seem daunting. However for mum of 2, Dusty-Skye, it was seeing the INCREDIBLE weight loss results that other mums of a similar size were having with The Healthy Mummy 28 Day Weight Loss Challenges and Smoothies, that inspired her to give it a go.
Now just 5 months into The Healthy Mummy program, Dusty-Skye is making HUGE progress. She has already lost 20Kgs*!
We couldn’t be happier for Dusty-Skye. She didn’t let the big numbers on her scales put her off getting started on her weight loss journey and has now found her ‘tribe’ for keeping her motivated. She is well on her way to reaching her goal to be a fitter, healthier, lighter and more confident mum.
Here is Dusty-Skye’s story:
Dusty-Skye is 25 years old and lives in Victoria with her very supportive partner and her 3 year old daughter and 7 month old son.
What was your starting weight?
What was your motivation to lose weight?
Seeing all the Transformation Tuesday and Flashback Friday weight loss results on The Healthy Mummy Lose Baby Weight Facebook support group. A lot of the women started their weight loss journey as big as I am, and they really helped me relate to them and gave me the confidence that I could achieve great results too. Seeing their AMAZING results really helped me kick my ass into action and has kept me motivated.
Did anything trigger it?
I was sick of being sad with how I looked and how uncomfortable I felt in clothes. Those stupid number on the scales can break your heart!
How did you lose weight?
I have been doing The Healthy Mummy 28 Day Weight Loss Challenge and Healthy Mummy Smoothies for five months and it was the best decision I have made. I also joined a gym and go to exercise classes five to six days a week.
Occasionally I have been stepping out of the classes and just working out at the gym which is a big deal for me being so self conscious and embarrassed.
Have you hit any roadblocks?
Many.. I suffer from anxiety and depression, which didn’t help actually getting up and starting. Christmas wasn’t easy either – from eating habits slipping to the gym being closed. I’m beyond grateful to have such a great support team behind me though and I’m back on track and doing better than ever!
What advice would you give other mums wanting to lose weight?
It gets easier with time. NEVER give up.
What are 3 of your favourite Healthy Mummy recipes that are popular with your family?
Only 3? That’s going to be tough! I must say everyone in the family loves the recipes on the 28 Day Weight Loss Challenge recipe hub!
Three of our favourite recipes include
1. Chorizo and Spanish rice.
2. Chicken, pumpkin and feta salad
3. the salted caramel cups! So good!
What do you weigh now?
So far I have lost 20kgs* and over 75cm* (I started at 135.5kgs and am now sitting at 115.5kgs*. I did lose a few more kgs but Christmas set me back a little!
Who are you doing this for and why?
Myself and my family. It helps the rest of my life. The better I feel, the better my household runs, kids are happier, my partner is happier and my house is cleaner!

What has changed since losing the weight?
The gym is now part of my life and I’ve made so many new friends. I’m also more keen to actually leave the house these days rather than sit at home and do nothing!
