“This WAS me, the whole 116kg of me. I can’t tell you how or when I let myself get like this. I guess it was a perpetuating depressing downward spiral. I was in a relationship that caused me a lot of unhappiness. I lost respect for myself, I gave up and as the months and years rolled on, this was the end result.”
“I can, however, tell you how my transformation began. It was the day I separated from my husband. I was a single parent raising a 5 year old son. What would happen to him if something happened to me? Something I could have prevented?
I didn’t want him to see me unhappy about myself, I didn’t want him to see his Mum laze on the couch watching TV eating anything and everything in sight because it ‘made me feel better’. That’s the thing, it didn’t make me feel better, it made me feel worse!”
“I can’t believe I let myself get that way and think it was okay. I think it had more to do with the fact that I failed soooooooooo many times in the past with other ‘weight loss programs’, pills and ‘weight loss shakes’ and I thought it was all too hard. I had the similar mindset as many of you do who are reading this right now, I was so focused on ‘the end’ – ‘I need to lose 30kg, 40kg, 50kg’ instead of ‘Let’s go for a walk today,’ ‘Let’s have a 28 Day Challenge meal for dinner instead of Maccas,’ ‘Today I’m going to walk an extra kilometre’.”
“None of us got like this overnight, so we shouldn’t expect to be champion athletes when we wake up one morning. It’s all about the journey – reprogramming your brain, leaving old bad habits in the past, learning more about your body and how nutrition plays a big role in weight loss, mood, hormones etc. It’s all about hard work – what you put in you get out, persistence – you didn’t fail it was just a trial run and we can start again tomorrow.
