After 12 months of struggling to lose weight following a difficult pregnancy and the birth of her second child, 35-year-old mum Robyn joined The Healthy Mummy 28 Day Weight Loss Challenge. And soon after the weight started coming off.
In less than 6 months she has lost 7.7kg and is well on track to smash her weight loss goal of 18kg in another 6 months.
Feeling happy to find a program that is getting her results. Being invited to take part in The Healthy Mummy Body Confidence photo shoot in New York as part of world Healthy Mummy month is something Robyn says she never dreamed would happen.
She shares her amazing weight loss story below.
A difficult pregnancy and doctor-ordered bed rest led mum Robyn to gain over 22kg with her second pregnancy.
Robyn breastfed for a year afterward and was convinced that once she was done with breastfeeding, the weight would just fall off, just like it had with her previous pregnancy. But she wasn’t so lucky.
She says, “having to buy clothes in larger sizes after my daughter was born was horrible. I literally fell into a depression and I didn’t understand that despite breastfeeding, my weight wasn’t falling off as it had after having my first child.”
Ready to make a change
Robyn was determined to set a good example to her daughters and show them that she could be a working mum and still make time for her own health and wellness but nothing seemed to work.
Set on making 2019 her year for change she started doing weight based workouts but says her body couldn’t keep up. She was left sore, and extremely exhausted.
Then she opted for a home delivery meal service for herself but was overwhelmed by the planning and preparation that was involved in preparing meals for the rest of her family.
Joining The Healthy Mummy
Now she is a member and avid user of the Healthy Mummy’s 28 Day Weight Loss Challenge App.
“The Challenge App has changed my life!”
Back when Robyn was pregnant with her first child, she says she was so overwhelmed with the idea of grocery shopping that she handed off the task to her husband.
She says “I just couldn’t imagine having to plan the meals, figure out what we needed and then buy all the items.”
Her husband kindly took up the task of grocery shopping but it meant the family ended up eating the same 8-10 meals on repeat.
Since joining The Healthy Mummy she says “the App has CHANGED my life.
I love the ease of picking/planning all of our meals by serving size. Then I am able to print a grocery list and get to the supermarket.
It helps me stay under budget as I only buy what’s on the list, so it’s been worth every cent to me.”
And after FIVE years of avoiding the supermarket, Robyn now embraces the weekly grocery shop AND takes her kids with her.
As a busy working mum, Robyn says, “I am forever grateful for the ease and organisation this provides for me and my family.”
Weight loss results – 7.7kg in 6 months
In addition to the benefits of helping Robyn budget and plan her shopping, she has lost 7.7kg in just under 6 months (down from 90.7kg to 83kg).
Not only is Robyn feeling more energised to keep up with her kids, but she also says “I am feeling better, lighter and even see my skin looking healthier.”
Robyn’s 3 tips for weight loss
Robyn shares her top 3 tips to help mums on their weight loss journey below:
- Be consistent
- Schedule your workouts like a meeting you can’t miss. Even on a rough day, a 10-minute walk is better than nothing!
- Stop drinking soft drink. I feel less bloated and I am no longer craving it!
She says “I am a real working mum, with a husband, 2 kids, and a dog! I am so excited to see my progress and how I change for the better in the coming months. And I feel very empowered to help as many mums on their journey as possible.”
