“I feel a lot better, my autoimmune disease has only flared up a couple of times compared to previous years eating rubbish food.”
Healthy Mummy has reduced the severity of my Autoimmune flare ups
Louise May, 28, is a single mum to two children, living in the Lockyer Valley and working as a vet nurse three days a week.
Louise shares, “I’ve been following the Healthy Mummy since 2018.
“I was doing it on and off following the plans and having the Healthy Mummy Smoothies.
My starting weight was 122kgs to be exact.
“I then pulled my booty into gear and thought I need to better myself for myself.
“I feel a lot better, my autoimmune disease has only flared up a couple of times compared to previous years eating rubbish food.
“I feel amazing, I feel like no one can knock me down to that level I was. I have so much more confidence in myself again. Finding me and being a role model for my children, family, and friends.”
About Louise’s Autoimmune disease
“I suffer from Polymyositis and dermatomyositis, which are disorders of the body’s connective tissues, which include the tendons, ligaments and the dense sheets of collagen-based tissue that cover the ends of the muscles. These diseases cause swelling and tenderness in the muscles (polymyositis) and sometimes the skin (dermatomyositis) and body organs.
“I take medications daily to control this disease. I have found The Healthy Mummy has reduced the severity of the flare-ups, I believe it’s from eating a nutritious balanced diet. The body thrives on good fuel.”
Louise’s favourite Healthy Mummy Smoothie and recipes:
“I use the 28 Day Weight Loss Challenge app, follow the meal plans daily, and have a smoothie every morning now!
“My favourite Healthy Mummy Smoothie is Banana I’ve always been a banana freak.
“One of my favourite meals would be the Stove top lasagna, it’s quick and easy and child-friendly!
“One of my fave snacks would be the Peanut bubble crunch, it does not last in my house!”
Louise’s favourite 28 Day Weight Loss Challenge exercise:
“I follow the exercises on the app and I also play music throughout the day and just groove along at random times eg squats lunges.”
Louise’s top tips:
- Prepping is the biggest timesaver.
- Don’t beat yourself up if you eat something you’re not meant to, one bad meal doesn’t make you fat and one healthy meal doesn’t make you thin it’s balance.
- Just take one day at a time. It takes a good few weeks to change the mindset.
Louise adds, “If you feel like giving up do what I did, jump on the Healthy Mummy support group and look at other people’s journey to remind yourself why you’re doing it.
“Set small goals, one of my goals was to increase water intake so for one week that was my goal! Simple but effective. The girls in the Healthy Mummy community are amazing, they are encouraging supportive and just there when needed! It’s like a online family!”
