How this mum suffering from an underactive thyroid lost 18kg

It all started when Lauren was scrolling through Facebook and spotted a before and after photo in which she knew she had to be apart of!

In her first year with The Healthy Mummy Lauren lost a staggering but slow 18.5kgs which has seen her maintain the loss 3.5 years later.

At 8 weeks postpartum, Lauren was on her way to her weight loss journey only to find she had an underactive thyroid from her difficult pregnancy.

‘I didn’t look like me!’ How this mum suffering from an underactive thyroid lost 18kg

On Lauren’s 30th birthday and after her 2 c-section births, she went shopping only to find that she hated what her body looked like. “I wasn’t strong anymore and it didn’t even look like me, I decided I didn’t want to feel like this ever again and I refused to go up anymore dress sizes,” she said.

Diagnosed with Hashimoto’s disease in her second pregnancy, an underactive thyroid made Lauren’s weightloss painfully slow, but this didn’t deter her from her weight loss journey.

“My approach to groceries has also changed since joining the 28 Day Weight Loss Challenges and following recipes as I have the skill set to know exactly what I’m buying, and what for.” Lauren also said that knowledge has helped her read labels better and really understand what she’s putting in her body.

It’s impacted her family too!

Laurens husband has lost weight too, eating the meals from The Healthy Mummy and it’s by far the best thing for her kids Lauren says, “They now eat a wide variety of fruit and veggies and I’m their greatest role model.”

Laurens best tip for your weight loss journey? “Don’t let your mind win. Get up and get your food sorted or your exercise done without getting a chance to think as mind games will get you every time. Remember, you are stronger than your excuses.”

Future goals

Lauren’s next goal? Become aerobic fit, up her endurance and build strength, adding, “I think a trip to HM headquarters would be my ultimate achievement!”
