Expectant mums and dads can hold an exact replica of their growing bundle of joy, thanks to a Russian-based company.

Parents-to-be can now hold a 3D model of their unborn baby
Scans have come on in leaps and bounds over the years, but this latest invention makes it even more real.
The idea was not created for memorabilia but to be used by doctors to observe the baby’s anatomy and health.
Ivan Gridin, the founder of Embryo 3D, printed a model of a baby for his friend, as she was worried about the health of her unborn child.
“I was fond of new technologies at that time, and 3D-printing,” he says.
“Earlier we printed only from plastic, but now we are able to make plaster models and cover them with precious metals.”

While ultrasound images, including 4D scans, provide an accurate depiction, they’re not always that clear. Whereas, the 3D version includes intricate details of a baby’s face, feet and hands.
“We ordered a 3D model of our child, which is in my belly now. It is a weird feeling, the child hasn’t been born yet and but you can touch it and feel it as it is,” says Yuliana Recun, who is pregnant and ordered a 3D model of her unborn child.
Researchers have successfully printed kidney cells, hearts and other tissues, so this concept is a great idea.
