We’ve found a healthy recipe for doughnuts that are sweet, fluffy, in fact, they’re absolutely everything you could want from a normal doughnut – without the guilt. Where has this been all our lives? Never mind, they’re here now, that’s what matters.
These are the perfect alternative to the more high-calorie traditional options. Using budget ingredients that combine to make a yummy doughnut base, you will find yourself going back to this recipe time and time again. In fact, one serve costs just 20 c per serve.
The doughnuts recipe is also free of eggs and dairy and nuts so it’s great for those with allergies or for school lunchboxes.

Mix and Topping Ideas for your Healthy Doughnuts
You can use this mix plain or add ingredients to it to give your doughnuts an extra edge! The sky’s the limit with things you can add to the mix or toppings for these delicious doughnuts! You could try adding:-
Crushed Peanuts
Choc Chips
Cinnamon
And for Toppings…
Mini Marshmallows and Chocolate
Chocolate and sprinkles
Or use any icing of choice or even leave them plain!

- 2 cups wholemeal self raising flour
- 1 tsp baking soda
- ½ tsp salt
- ¾ cup coconut sugar
- 1/2 cup coconut oil
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 tsp white vinegar
- 1 cup water
- 2 tbsp decoration sprinkles
Ingredients

- Mix dry ingredients together in a large bowl
- Make 3 holes in mix, 2 smaller and 1 larger put vanilla and vinegar in smaller holes and oil in larger.
- Pour the water over the top and mix all together well making sure to mix all the flour mixture in.
- Spoon small spoonfuls of mix into lightly sprayed doughnut maker and cook until golden brown.
- Serve as you like them - with a drizzle of choc, natural sprinkles, a dusting of cinnamon, or just eat them plain!
- These can also be baked in the oven, using a doughnut tray bake at 160 C for about 10 - 12 minutes, keep a close eye on them in the oven.
