A new study has found that you can burn significantly more fat by changing WHEN you eat.
The University of Surrey concluded a 10-week study into ‘time-restricted feeding’ where the volunteers could eat what they liked, so long as it was within a specific time window.
Scientists then split participants into two groups where they would keep diet diaries, provide blood samples and fill out a questionnaire when they were done.
Ate their meals as they normally would.
Ate their breakfast 90 minutes later than normal, and dinner 90 minutes earlier.
Those who ate within a specific window (group 2) lost more than TWICE as much body fat as the other group.
The questionnaire also revealed that 57% of the study group noticed a reduction in their food consumption, which the researchers said was either due to decreased appetite or reduced snacking.
Dr Johnathon Johnston, the lead author of the study, said, “Although this study is small, it has provided us with invaluable insight into how slight alterations to our meal times can have benefits to our bodies.”
Dr Johnston also understands that fasting diets are difficult to follow and may not always be compatible with family and social life.
