Mums reveal what they are most thankful for. Can you guess what it is?

The Healthy Mummy photo-a-day competition is just one of the ways that we have been uniting mums from all over the globe during World Healthy Mummy month.

On day 18 of World Healthy Mummy Month, our community of mums were asked to share a photo of what they were most THANKFUL for.

While there appears to be something in common with nearly all of their responses (can you guess what it is?), there are some surprises too. Read what some of our mums have to say.

Healthy Mummy mums reflect on what they are THANKFUL for

Lyz-Henderson-thankful-for-kids

Lyz Henderson  “So the photo for today is “thankful”. I am thankful to my 2 wonderful girls for just being them. After being told I was infertile I am so thankful that the specialists were wrong and these 2 came along even if they are slightly crazy”.

Emma-Robertson-thankful-walking

Emma Robertson “Today I walked a different part of the trail not far from home. I am thankful that the weather held out for me, thankful that my legs carried me the 7kms and thankful that I live in such a beautiful place”.

Anna Marie Salisbury  “I am thankful for my beautiful family. It took 6 years to conceive Mya and 3 years to conceive Jacob and a lot of heartache in that time.

Today we went to forest school and Mya told me she was making ‘stovetop lasagne because I’m a Healthy Mummy’.  They really do watch and listen and model their behaviour on us. Here’s to my children having an active healthy life”.

Jenny-Swift-thankful-for-family

Jenny Swift “There are many things I’m grateful for but my family top the list by far. They’re my support, my motivation, sometimes the only reason I can drag myself out of bed at stupid o’clock after 0 hours sleep. I love how active our family has become and how supportive they are of me running and doing more exercise. It just makes me so happy!

I’m also super thankful I’ve found The Healthy Mummy which has helped me put my health higher up on the agenda than its ever been before and since had a positive impact on the whole family!”.

Elizabeth-Clare-family-thankful

Elizabeth Clare “I have learnt over the last 2 years how to be thankful for what I have, what I have lost and what can be.

Through heartbreak and grief I have become so thankful for what I have been given.

I have a son who is my absolute world.
I have a mind and body that is stronger than I will ever know.
I have a husband who is my rock.
I have 2 jobs which are both an absolute privilege to do.

Yes I have felt let down and that life isn’t fair.

I have learnt though that those things have shaped the person I am today and have helped me appreciate everything I do have and what I have worked for.

I am thankful for this life I have and ALL that happens in it”.

Tracey Bentley “What am I thankful for… obviously my children but right this minute I’m thankful for being able to put healthy wholesome food on their plates.
Tonight it was yesterdays warmed pulled pork or chilli served on homemade nachos, homemade potato salad, and chilli served with rice.
3 clean plates later and we are stuffed. Thank you for that”.

Jo-Ann-Spence-thankful-family-2

Jo-Ann Spence “Today I am thankful for mine and my families health, my wonderful husband who is my best friend and my rock and to finding The Healthy Mummy.

I’m also thankful to my amazing husband who has just bought me another freezer . Can’t tell you how excited I am about that”.

Emily-Brown-Child-thankful

Emily Brown “I’m thankful for so much, my family, my friends, my home and so much more.

One of the things I’m thankful for is The Healthy Mummy changing my attitude towards outdoors for me and my son.

We now love to go for walks all over the place not only when the sun is shining but also when its raining and we love our walk either way. This picture is of my son plotting our walk around Yorkshire sculpture park”.

Sar McGowan “First and foremost, I am so thankful for my family! My hubby and children are my rocks and I have no idea where I would be without them! I am so blessed to have them in my life and that they have always loved me for me, no matter what I have thought of myself.

I am so lucky to have my 2 miracles in my life. After years of longing for them and knowing that it probably wouldn’t happen for us, my beautiful angels came along when I had given up hope! Not one day goes by when I don’t think of how lucky and thankful I am.

Secondly, I am so thankful to have found this incredible group of women in The Healthy Mummy team and support group

They have all inspired, supported and encouraged me to be the best I can be.

I now have the confidence to be involved when out with the kids instead of hiding on the sidelines, making amazing memories and being the mum and role model I always wanted to be for them.

I’m the one that looks like an idiot on the soft play laughing her head off, on the seesaw at the park, singing the greatest showman at the top of our lungs as we walk along. No longer afraid or worrying what others think, just having fun with my kids!

I am so thankful for all of the incredible women in The Healthy Mummy community – they make me smile everyday, no matter what life throws at me and remind me and inspire me to stay strong and to keep smiling!”

Megan-Jane-thankful-for-family-2

Megan Jane “Isn’t it funny how life doesn’t always work out the way you thought it would. I’ve been to hell and back in my (almost) 40 years and never imagined I’d be where I am now.

  • mum of 4 incredible, amazing, beautiful, uniquely individual children
  • strong, fit, healthier and happier than I ever thought possible
  • working in the fitness industry….and loving it
  • overcoming my depression and anxiety
  • really living and loving life, no longer watching from the sidelines with tears running down my face
  • completely and utterly in love and loved by an indescribably awesome man

It wouldn’t be possible if I hadn’t of worked on my insides, learning to love myself and my imperfections, forgiving myself and learning to distance and move on from negativity.

I am a priority because I am worth it and I couldn’t be more thankful for everything in my life, good and bad, because it’s all made me the woman I am today”.

Kirsty-Haggar-thankful-family

Kirsty Haggar “I am thankful for my amazing little family. We have our ups and downs and life isn’t easy sometimes but we stick together and then can get through anything!

I don’t know what I’d do without them. My amazing husband works every hour going just so I can stay at home and watch our beautiful girls grow, for that I will be forever grateful.

He always says I’m the glue that holds us all together but it’s not true, we need all four of us equally”.

Krissy-Galbraith-thankful-pain-free-exercise

Krissy Galbraith “I have a chronic pain and fatigue condition and I am thankful for the days that I am pain free so that I can exercise, this helps every aspect of my life. I am getting fitter, stronger and my mental health is greatly improving. I am even more thankful for the days I can challenge myself and push myself that little bit further and challenge myself like I used to, this makes me feel free.

Today I did my usual walk to school but because my younger two stayed home with Dad I was able to walk a bit further today.

But most of all I am thankful for my husband for loving me as I am, which helps me love myself as I am, and who encourages and supports me to be the best I can be”.

Emma-Sawade-thankful-ikea-shelves-2

Emma Sawade “Little bit random tonight but thankful it was late night shopping.

I decided it was time to organise the kids shoes and bags etc for child care as my twins will start soon and join their sister. So I went to Ikea and bought a cube shelf unit this morning… go to assemble it tonight once the kids were down (no way attempting this with 3 awake!) to find one of the shelves damaged.

Made it back to Ikea by 8:45pm… 15 minutes to spare. Home again and unit completed with boxes for each child’s shoes and another for their bags set up plus left over shelves for more books”.

Jenni-Wright-thankful-sons

Jenni Wright “Thankful that I found The Healthy Mummy.

Before I was lost, I’d left a very bad domestic violent relationship and forgotten who I was… l was overweight depressed and so so lost!

I got happy healthy and strong again to be able to take care of my boys after their father took his own life… I would not have got thru that part of my life if I hadn’t found The Healthy Mummy or myself again.

Myself and my boys are living and loving life again.

So I am so thankful and forever grateful to The Healthy Mummy for helping me change my life for the better and become the strong woman and mum I am today.

We really can do amazing things ladies, never give up”.
