Mum looks stunning at her wedding after 23kg weight loss

Despite initial plans to get married in 2020, Lauren and her partner decided to bite the bullet and get married this year which meant maintaining her weight loss for the wedding was even more crucial!

Mum smashes her wedding weight loss goals

Lauren is a mum of two boys and lives on a cattle and cropping property in country NSW.

Before Lauren discovered The Healthy Mummy she says, “I was so unhappy in my body, I needed to make a change desperately.

I had tried fad shake and juice diets with good results but they aren’t sustainable and I put the weight back on.

I’d seen The Healthy Mummy on Facebook so I bit the bullet and signed up”.

After joining The Healthy Mummy 28 Day Weight Loss Challenge Lauren says “I could see a difference in the first week. My energy levels improved, I was happier and found my love of cooking again.

“I did my first challenge in May. Finding recipes that my fiance and toddler would eat was a bit challenging in the beginning.

And living so far from town and doing a weekly or fortnightly shop was difficult as I had to learn how to substitute and alter recipes but keep them healthy”.

But Lauren soon got the hang of it and is loving the Healthy Mummy journey!

“Through the use of The Healthy Mummy meal plans and everything, I learned about meal sizes and healthy choices I gradually continued to lose weight.”

Lauren had originally planned on a 2020 Wedding

Lauren got a huge surprise when her partner, Phil, decided to bring their Wedding Day forward a year.

“We had planned on an October 2020 Wedding, plenty of time to plan. On Christmas eve 2018 Phil came to me and asked: “Would you like your Christmas present?” Of course, who doesn’t like early presents! Then he told me we can have our wedding a year sooner in 2019!”

“I have lost approximately 23 kilos and I have dropped 3 dress sizes. I didn’t get down to a size 14 but I was stoked to be a 16 on my Wedding day.”

Lauren said when she first tried on her Wedding dress back in May it was a little snug and very tight around the arms.

“At my final fitting with the dressmaker, I didn’t need any changes but there were some areas I wasn’t too happy with, love handles mainly. But losing those last 3 kilos in the last 2 weeks helped smooth them out a little.

“I felt absolutely stunning on our Wedding day and it was perfect!” 

(Apart from being 45 mins late) But I had to wait 14 years so maybe that was just unintentional payback!

“We were Married on a property on the Liverpool Plains of NSW in the garden of my husband’s boss at their beautiful home. Our reception was at a neighbours woodshed and it was everything we had ever dreamed!”

Lauren’s tips for brides to be

Lauren says the best thing is to be realistic with your goals and don’t be too hard on yourself if you have to adjust them at any time.

“Buy the dress you fit into. They can take them in up to 3 dress sizes and that way if you fall off the wagon with wedding prep and life you still have a dress that fits!”

Lauren’s Motivation tips for mums who feel like giving up

“You will fall off the wagon, mumming is a tough gig! But the best part is the wagon will always be there so jump back on and keep on your Healthy Mummy Journey, I promise it is worth it!”

Lauren’s favourite recipes
