Kate lost 10kgs in just 14 weeks by finally putting herself first

Healthy Mummy, Kate, shares how she lost 10kgs in just 14 weeks.

“In 14 weeks on the 28 Day Weight Loss Challenge I lost 10kg. I was dedicated, motivated and gave myself permission to put myself first and I achieved in those 14 weeks more than I had in the last year trying all the fad diets.”

Kate Leanne, 37, from Huntfield Heights, Adelaide is a mum of 3 children aged, 10,7 and 5.

Kate shares, “I’ve lost a total of 30kg over 10 years but the latest time in April 2019 it was 10kg over 14 weeks.

“I found The Healthy Mummy 28 Day Weight Loss Challenge the first time back in 2012 when it was not as well known and I just used the recipes and walked every day.

“I have had two Healthy Mummy journeys, the first after my second baby which helped me lose kilos and get back on track, but life got in the way and I just didn’t stick to it.

“In April 2019 I decided to get back on the Healthy Mummy train even though I didn’t have a lot to lose I felt sluggish, self-conscious and never really truly happy with my lifestyle choices, I think I thought I ate healthily, I made every excuse not to exercise and was just not motivated.

“So in 14 weeks I lost 10kg I was dedicated, motivated and gave myself permission to put myself first and I achieved in those 14 weeks more than I had in the last year trying all the fad diets.”

“I don’t do a lot of exercises – no gym, just at home cross trainer, exercise bike and leg magic machine with some squats and sit-ups, I do aqua classes and walk for my exercise.

I love cooking and preparing healthy yummy meals for me and my family. I involve my kids in the cooking and prepping and also in my exercise.

“My favourite meals are the Low fat butter chicken, Porcupine meatballs, and the Satay chicken noodles.

“I like to keep it simple with snacks, my favourites are Veggie sticks with hummus, Zucchini muffins, Raspberry and dark choc chip muffins, Yoghurt, rice cakes with tuna, or peanut butter.”

Kate’s top tips:

  • Meal prepping- having a freezer stash had saved me many times from bad food choices when I don’t want to cook.
  • Drink water, and lots of it!
  • Move your body each day even just a walk or some squats – you feel much better after.

“I have those days where I feel like I can’t be bothered and feel things are too hard, everyone does, and I’ve fallen off the wagon but the important thing is to not slide back into old habits, get back to the meal prep and exercise, tell yourself you are worth it and once you start to see the results the motivation increases 10 fold.
