Easy Crispy Sweet Potato Fries

Whether you call them fries, wedges, or hot chips – most people can’t resist. But when you are trying to eat well and follow a healthy eating plan you might think that they’d be off the menu.

But if you can make your own healthy version at home, they don’t need to be.

Healthy Fries

These fries are great to go with a homemade burger or some kid-friendly fish fingers and steamed greens for a Friday night treat.

Sweet potatoes are a better choice than white potatoes when cooking fries.  They are packed with beta carotene and are a low GI food. This means they provide longer lasting, slow-burning fuel for your body. This is better for your blood sugar and energy levels.

In this recipe, these ‘fries’ are not fried at all, but baked in a small amount of heart-healthy olive oil. When baked they are still crispy and delicious – without the avalanche of fat and calories that come with cooking in deep fryers.
