Natalie Portman Is Unable To Attend Oscars Due To Pregnancy

Natalie Portman won’t be attending the Oscars this year, but she says she’s ‘honoured’ she has been nominated for an award.

‘I Feel So Lucky To Be Honoured’

The 35-year-old actress, who is up for a Best Actress nomination for her portrayal of former first lady Jackie Kennedy in the biopic Jackie, is heavily pregnant with her second child with her husband Benjamin Millepied.

“Due to my pregnancy, I am unable to attend the Independent Spirit Awards and the Academy Awards,” she told People in a statement.

“I feel so lucky to be honoured among my fellow nominees and wish them the most beautiful of weekends.”

Third Time Lucky?

Natalie, who is also mum to her five-year-old son Aleph, recently showed off her baby bump at the Golden Globes, the SAG Awards and also on the cover of Vanity Fair last month.

The Oscar nomination will be the star’s third. She won the Best Actress award for Black Swan in 2010 and was nominated in the supporting actress category for Closer in 2004.

The 89th Academy Awards ceremony kicks off in a couple of hours.
