Learning to embrace your changing body throughout your pregnancy is a struggle for many of us. SO when we saw the confidence radiating from Zoe during her recent maternity shoot, we knew she had some valuable tips to share with you. Zoe is a mum from our Healthy Mummy Community.
Zoe says: “I am lucky enough to have an incredible friend like Melissa from A Shot Above the Rest. She wanted to do something special and unique for our family maternity photographs and the results are AMAZING. I felt so comfortable and beautiful. We are beachy people, so going to the beach made us feel very at home. It was a great afternoon, we shared lots of laughs, and best of all I felt amazing! These photos and that day are something we will treasure forever.”
My 5 tips on embracing your weight gain during pregnancy
1.Embrace your changes
Everything will change, your belly, your legs, your hands, your boobs! There is really nothing you can do about it. You need to embrace your changes. A miracle is happening in your body, it may only happen once or twice so enjoy it.
2. Enjoy the food you’re allowed
You are somewhat limited in what you are able to eat in pregnancy. So enjoy what you can. Substitute things; for example, I love runny eggs, big no no in pregnancy, so I don’t eat poached or boiled eggs at all in pregnancy instead I have scrambled eggs so I don’t ever really miss that beautiful runny yolk. First thing my hubby cooks for me when I am home though is a runny egg!
3. Buy Clothes that fit you and your changing shape
I live in long tees and maternity jeans in pregnancy. I bought them early on with my second pregnancy. Just Jeans are great, they come over your belly, but I also love ASOS. Because your body is always changing I found great dresses from ASOS that grow with you. Also, as your breasts change buy maternity bras that make you feel beautiful. I am a plus size girl and love Hot Milk Maternity bras, they are supportive, pretty and I have worn them most of this pregnancy.
4. Get out and about
I am a bit of a social butterfly. I have a very busy schedule, and while I know you are supposed to take it easy in pregnancy, there is no reason for you to lock yourself away for 9 months. Get out and about, walk in the sunshine, go to markets or the beach. You can always have rest days and put your feet up.
5. Keep your routine
If you get up at 6am, keep getting up at 6am. If you take your dog for a walk at 6pm, keep taking your dog for a walk. A well organised mind, or one in a good routine, will lead to a happy mum and a happy baby.
