Urgent recall of popular milk from NSW supermarkets due to E. coli contamination fear

Major supermarkets chains in NSW have recalled  Dairy Farmer’s milk bottles due to fears they could be contaminated with E. coli.

 

 

 

Lion Dairy & Drinks is undertaking a recall of :-

  • Dairy Farmers 1L Full Cream white milk products with a use by date of 25/02/2020
  • Dairy Farmers 3L Full Cream white milk products with a use by date of 24/02/2020.

The bottles have been sold in Woolworths, Coles and IGA supermarkets in New South Wales.

There are fears the milk products are contaminated with E. coli and may cause illness if they are consumed.  Anyone who has bought this milk should not consume it and dispose of the product.

Lion Dairy and Drink said ‘Consumers and customers can be assured that we are undertaking a thorough investigation and will put in place steps to mitigate it happening again.’

The company will provide full refunds to customers.  Call the Lion Dairy & Drinks Consumer Enquiries Centre on 1800 677 852 for a full refund.

This recall does not impact other Dairy Farmers dairy products made in New South Wales or in other states.

SYMPTOMS OF E. COLI

E. coli can cause diarrhoea, stomach pain, nausea and vomiting, lasting 5-10 days, urinary tract infection, and pneumonia. Be aware if you have the following symptoms.

  • dehydration
  • reduced urination
  • lethargy
  • pale skin
  • yellow skin and eyes
  • puffiness from fluid retention and seizures.
If you have consumed the milk and are experiencing any of these symptoms please seek medical attention immediately.
