5 family-friendly snacks you will WANT to include in your meal prep
Healthy Mummy community member and Healthy Mummy Squad Mum, Annette Palma, recently cooked up a meal prep (rather, treat prep) storm!
This mum was on a mission to make as many snacks as she can. That way, she has snacks on hand for the week ahead and less tempted to pick at not-so-healthy, sugar-laden treats.
Annette says, “There are lots of amazing snacks on the meal plan for the first week of the June 28 Day Weight Loss Challenge and the beauty is that you can make many of them ahead of time so they’re ready to go as you need them!”
5 family-friendly snacks
Annette pre-prepared five delicious snacks for the week ahead, that are not only great to eat whilst following a healthy eating plan but that her family will love.
After all, being a busy mum (with a new bub) can be tricky and time in the kitchen can be limited. So these snacks are great. They are also super easy to pick at if you are breastfeeding.

1. Rustic homemade hummus
This delicious, creamy hummus makes a GREAT snack. At only 190 cals and 5 minutes cooking time – this recipe is quick and convenient snack.
Annette says, “I made 6 serves of this and plan to store it in an airtight container in the fridge. Why buy store bought when it’s so super quick and easy to make your own, plus it tastes so much nicer!”
2. Mini Chocolate Cheesecakes
These mini chocolate cheesecakes are MUCH better for you than your traditional cheesecakes.
“These are so rich and decadent! It really feels like you’re spoiling yourself with a yummy dessert. They didn’t take too long to make.
“Best of all you can make extra and store them in the fridge for 3 or 4 days but they last even longer in the freezer and taste even better”, admits Annette.
3. Peanut Butter and Chocolate Cookies
This delicious cookies are certainly a hit with the whole family!
Annette shares, “Super yummy and great for a quick snack on the go. I made a week’s worth of these as they store really well in an airtight container for up to a week.
“I don’t think they’ll last the week though as they are a huge hit with the husband and kids!”

4. Snickers Mousse
Annette says, “This is another delicious dessert that easily lasts in the fridge for 3-4 days and is super yummy. Perfect for once the kids are in bed and you want an after dinner snack.”
5. Cheese and Chilli Chips with Yoghurt Dip
Cheese chips are so EASY to make – and these have a small bite.
Annette reveals, “Made these before but they have some bite to them so if your partner or children don’t like a lot of chilli you can definitely put half the amount.
“I also made them in a silicone muffin tray and they turned out perfect! They’ll last in the fridge for a good 3-4 days after you make them.”
