Breakfast is an EXTREMELY crucial meal to have each day – especially if you are on a quest to lose weight and maintain a healthy diet.
In fact, this mum found that she actually lost weight after she stopped skipping meals – especially her brekkie!
Kaitie stopped skipping meals
Kaitie says one of the biggest changes she made to her diet when she joined the 28 Day Weight Loss Challenge was including breakfast in her meal plan.
“One of my biggest issues before The Healthy Mummy was skipping meals, not eating snacks and not eating enough,” she says.
“So many fad diets tell us we need to eat less, and in most cases this isn’t true, especially if you are a breastfeeding mummy.
“At the start, eating more was hard to get my head around, but it actually works.”
Kaitie is a busy mum to two little girls and she says that one of the best lessons she’s learnt is to have breakfast.
“Skipping breakfast was a regular thing before The Healthy Mummy,” says Kaitie.
“Soggy Weetbix? No thanks. Stone cold toast? I’ll pass. I never felt hungry in the morning and there was nothing I fancied eating.”
Kaitie finds she has more energy now
Kaitie then decided to purchase some Healthy Mummy Smoothies and she says she soon fell into the pattern of starting her day with these.
“The smoothies take two to three minutes to make, and you can sip on them while getting on with your morning – even if you drink them in the car on the school drop offs,” she says.
“It was an easy way to include breakfast in my diet to begin with – and I found I had more energy than normal!”
Kaitie then decided to try making some breakfast meals from the 28 Day Weight Loss Challenge recipe hub.
“I love the Easy Apple and Cinnamon Porridge, BLT pita melt or poached eggs with avo and feta from the 28 Day Weight Loss Challenge when I have time to make breakfast,” she says.
“My number one tip would be take the 2-3 minutes for yourself each day to make breakfast, your body will thank you and it truly just becomes habit after a week or two!”

1.Easy Apple and Cinnamon Porridge
Porridge is a great way to start the day as it’s easy to prepare and is also very nutritious and filling.
The inclusion of cinnamon and honey adds plenty of flavour and sweetness without a huge number of calories, while fresh fruit and nuts up the protein and vitamin count. We used grated apple, raspberries and crushed up pecans but you could use whatever fruit you have to hand. This recipe is only 337 calories per serving.

2.BLT Pita Melt
A delicious way to start the day, this breakfast recipe is easy to prepare and also friendly on your budget. This recipe is only 298 calories per serving.

3. Poached Eggs with Avocado and Feta
Poached eggs are a great thing to have for breakfast, This recipe serves them with avocado and feta, adding great flavours to make a tasty, savoury breakfast. This meal is only 370 calories per serving.
