How would Ariel, Belle, Aurora, Jasmine and Elsa handle the ups and downs of being a mum? One artist has answered this question with his unique drawings that literally allow our favourite Disney princesses to be a part of our world.
The Wonderful World of Disney Parenting
Isaiah Stephens is known for blurring the line between animation and reality with his series of Disney cosplay drawings which showcase our favourite fair ladies in unique situations. From same-sex relationships to themes out of Star Wars, Isaiah is not afraid to step outside the boundaries with his art.
But our favourites of his photos have to be his Disney Parenting series in which the young princesses of our past are thrust into the world of today’s parenting.
So just how did the ladies and their leading men fair?
Jasmine and Aladdin (Aladdin)
The last time we encountered these two lovebirds Jasmine was 15. Well now she’s all grown up and looks glowing in her traditional maternity photo shoot, with her handsome suitor by her side.
Aurora Rose and Prince Philip (Sleeping Beauty)
Sleeping Beauty woke up just in time to give birth to a child. And Prince Philip looks about ready to pass out beside her.
Bet she wishes she had a sleeping pill right about now…
Belle (Beauty and the Beast)
We all loved Beauty and the Beast, but we also adore Beauty on the Bench, which is not only beautiful, but helping to normalise breastfeeding. Good on you, Isaiah!
Isaiah drew both a covered and non-covered version and, although he originally posted the covered version because he “didn’t want to get in trouble by Facebook,” we prefer this one (which he uploaded later) better!
Tiana and Naveen (The Princess and the Frog)
The charming Naveen (who rocks the dad flannel) looks like he’s met his match. Tiana glows with new motherhood and Naveen, well, he glistens with urine. Pretty standard, really.
Elsa is nailing modern day parenting with her active wear and her smiling bub who appears to have inherited his mum’s special snow powers. Elsa’s still rocking the mum braid too.
Ariel (The Little Mermaid)
Ariel, on the other hand, looks like she’s about ready to snap with her fiery little guy. We hear you Ariel. Have another coffee. It helps.
Rapunzel and Flynn (Tangled)
Then there’s Rapunzel who lights up the room, even when cleaning a dirty nappy. And, of course, Flynn who clearly has no idea what’s he’s doing. But hey, if a hazmat helps, then it works for us!
If you love your Disney princesses then have a look at Isaiah’s Facebook page which features the girls in a number of different situations. And, Isaiah, here’s an idea for your next series – Disney princesses meet the wonderful world of toddlerhood. We predict it could get a bit messy.
