The biological mum of Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt’s adopted daughter Zahara has reached out and requested access to the pre-teen.
Mentewab Dawit Lebiso, who lives in Ethiopia, has revealed she’s desperate to meet the 12-year-old after giving her up for adoption when she was a baby.
“I just want her to know that I am alive and here and long to be able to speak with her,” she told the Daily Mail.
“I do not want my daughter back but just to be in contact with her and be able to call her up and talk with her.”
But she says she doesn’t want to disrupt the life Zahara has grown accustomed to in the US.
“She has a life that I could never give her,” she continued.“But I would still like to have some contact.”
Angie and Brad are currently embroiled in the middle of a ferocious custody battle over their six children, but Mentewab says she would like Zahara to stay with her adoptive mum.
“I want my daughter to stay with Angelina. She is a good mother and all children should stay with their mother,” she adds.
“I am sorry that they are splitting up and I pray for them.”
It’s been reported that when Angelina adopted Zahara in 2005, she believed Mentewab had died from AIDS.
However, Mentewab says she was too ill to look after her baby as she was malnourished, so had no choice but to give her child up for adoption.
Reps for Angelina and Brad are yet to comment on Mentewab’s request to access.
