Zoe Saldana Shares Why She Sometimes Buys Her Sons’ Clothes From The Girls Department

Zoe Saldana has shared she allows her adorable sons to pick out their own clothes. And guess what, if they want to wear stripes, polka-dots, blue or “pink glittery” outfits, she doesn’t mind or stop them.

‘We Will Never Choose Things For Them Because Of Their Gender’

In an interview with Refinery29, the Guardians of the Galaxy star says her two-year-old twins, Bowie and Cy, and two-month-old son Zen, are free to wear whatever they like.

“We [help] choose it because they need pants, they need shirts, and things like that,” she admits.

“But if they have a preference of a colour or a shape or a person or an animal or a story, we will never choose things for them because of their gender.”

And the mum-of-three says in the past her twins have been mistaken for girls because she and her hubby Marco Perego dress them “quite colourfully”.

“We get them their masculine ones. They don’t like those,” she says. “They want the glitter, the glitter bright pink ones, and we’re like, so be it.

“So we find ourselves always sliding into the girls’ section, and we have fun.”

It’s great to hear that Zoe is letting her kids be themselves, wear what they want and express their individuality. That is truly amazing.

Bilingual Babies

Meanwhile, Zoe, who is of Puerto Rican and Dominican heritage, and Marco, who is Italian, says their twins are learning Italian, English and Spanish.

“One is more into talking in Spanish. The other is expressing himself more in English.

“One is like, ‘No quiero! No quiero!’ And the other is like, ‘I don’t wanna!’ You’re like, ‘It’s time to go to sleep,’ and they’re both yelling at you all these things.”

What clever little tots!
