PND and PTSD

Jacoby Hall is an inspiration to all mums that have suffered Post Natal Depression (PND) and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). After a brief split with her partner when the toll of a newborn became too much for her, she quickly found the help she needed and began to pull her life back together again.

Her newfound knowledge and love of healthy food and exercise combined with her 16.8kgs* weight loss has given her the confidence to feel comfortable in her own skin and be the parent she always wanted to be.

This is Jacoby’s story:

Jacoby Hall is 34 and lives in Western Australia with her husband and two children (one and two and a half years old).

What was your starting weight?

88.8kgs

What was your motivation to lose weight?

My daughter and my husband. I wanted to be healthy and set an example for my little girl.

Did anything trigger it?

Yes, my fiancé left me when my daughter was 6 months old, because I had very bad postnatal depression (PND) and neither of us were coping well with a newborn. I actually suffered from prenatal depression and it continued over birth. I had a very tough birth too an I suffered from PTSD.

I got to a point when I’d just about had enough. We got back together 6 weeks after the break up, and I immediately started making changes. I found The Healthy Mummy program a few months after we got back together and felt like a weight had been lifted.

How did you lose weight?

I started with The Healthy Mummy 28 Day Weight Loss Challenge and then moved onto the Healthy Mummy Smoothies.

How long did it take?

I started in October 2015, so it’s been a year!

What is your typical exercise routine?

I do yoga weekly,  hip hop fitness on Youtube, walk 3 times a week, have recently started with a Healthy Mummy fitness trainer doing one on one sessions and have finally got myself a gym membership!

What has been your motivation for staying on track?

I originally started for everyone else in my life, but I now have the motivation to be a strong fit mummy and nothing is going to stop me!

Have you had any roadblocks?

I suffer from anxiety – so there have been a few low moments, where I lost my momentum. Exercise has helped me overcome it and I just don’t get those low moments anywhere near as often as I used to. Eating healthy food has had a knock on effect on my body and mind. A healthy body and a healthy mind as they say!.

What advice would you give to other mums?

Believe in yourself! Our bodies are capable of so many amazing things. Trust that you can do this because you definitely can!

Who are you doing this for and why?

Myself and my family – I want to set an example for my little girl.

Results

I started at 88.8kgs and now weigh 72kgs*.  That’s a total loss of 16.8kgs*.  I have also dropped from a size16/18 to a 10/12*.

What has changed from losing the weight?

Since losing the weight I am much more positive. I have learnt so much about myself emotionally and physically! It’s been an outstanding journey!

I am now able to go for bike rides and hikes with my family which is a huge achievement for me!  I have always wanted to be ‘that family’ but instead, I hid because I was so uncomfortable on a bike and walking puffed me out!

I recently took my daughter to a circus class and jumped on the gym equipment there. It was exhilarating to jump with her!

Are you wearing things you never thought you would now that you have lost the weight?

JEANS! The simple pleasure of wearing jeans and having them fitting correctly is amazing! No longer am I wearing stretchy pants and I now having buttons to do up! I recently started buying lingerie again too – hubby is most impressed!

I’m finally feeling sexy and am not too far from my goal weight now. I’m working on toning and forgetting about the scales now! I still have a tummy and flabby arms but I’m working on that. I no longer dream of feeling better and healthier because I am. I know I am capable of doing those things plus more, and so is every mum reading this! Join the challenge ladies! Just do it. it’s so simple and easy to follow. I can’t imagine where I’d be without the meal plans and smoothies.

Congratulations on your remarkable journey Jacoby.  The Healthy Mummy HQ love that you have got your confidence back and are setting such a wonderful example to your little girl.
