Britney Spears’ niece Maddie is expected to make a full recovery after being involved in a horrific accident on a quad bike earlier this week.
The eight-year-old was in a critical but stable condition after she accidentally drove her ATV into a lake and became trapped in the bike as it submerged.

On The Mend
Yesterday, the Toxic singer posted a snap of Maddie, who is her sister Jamie Lynn Spears’ daughter – and captioned the pic: “Need all the wishes and prayers for my niece.”
And it looks like her prayers have been answered, as a statement from her hospital obtained by People magazine has revealed that Maddie is now “awake and talking.”
“[Maddie] is aware of her surroundings and recognises those family members who have kept a round-the-clock vigil since the accident,” the statement reads.
“Doctors were able to remove the ventilator today and she is awake and talking.
“Maddie continues to receive oxygen and is being monitored closely but it appears that she has not suffered any neurological consequences from the accident.”
Fortunately, Maddie is expected to make a full recovery from incident – which was looking grave.
But now Jamie Lynn, 25, and her husband Jamie Watson have come under fire for allowing their daughter to drive a dangerous vehicle.
On Monday, it was confirmed by People magazine that Maddie was in a “critical but stable condition.”

Previous reports cited that the accident took place during a family hunting trip, but a police report reveals the crash happened on Jamie Lynn and her husband Jamie Watson’s property.
Jamie tried to rescue Maddie but “to no avail” after the little girl’s vehicle tried to avoid running over a nearby drainage ditch “causing the ATV to enter the pond.”

“The ATV and child were instantly submerged in water right before their eyes,” the report states.
“Within seconds the child’s mother, stepfather and other family members reached the pond, dove in and attempted to rescue the child to no avail.”
“The child was trapped and secured by the seatbelt and the ATV’s safety netting. Within two minutes, Acadian Ambulance Services arrived and assisted in freeing the child from the cold waters,” the police report continues.
“This is an extremely tragic accident. The Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Office is asking you to keep this family in your constant prayers as they try to cope with this horrible incident. We ask that you respect their privacy during this time of need.”
We’re glad Maddie is on the mend.
