Lily Allen has quit her Twitter account after being savagely attacked on social media. This comes after she revealed to her followers that she suffered from post traumatic stress disorder after the death of her stillborn son.
It started when the 31-year-old singer tried to highlight the prejudice shown towards immigrants, but things soon turned nasty when trolls began abusing her.
The British star, whose baby son was born stillborn at six months in 2010, revealed she suffered from post traumatic stress disorder [PTSD] on the social media site.
One troll tweeted the singer claiming if she hadn’t ‘taken drugs “you wouldn’t have miscarried.”
The Smile singer replied: “I didn’t miscarry, I went into early labour and my son died from his chord wrapped round his neck.”
Another Twitter user disturbingly suggested her baby deliberately killed himself, posting: “The baby knew you were going to be such a horrible mother.”
One fan asked Lily when her mental health issues began, and she replied: “When I lay in a hospital bed with my deceased son stuck between my legs halfway out my body for 10 hours.”
“Are you saying that a British hospital left you, with a dead baby ‘stuck between your legs’ for 10 hours? Liar!” another user replied.
Another user said: “Not to be a d**k but I very highly doubt it was 10 hours’” to which Lily replied: “You are a d**k. And it was. I was there, you weren’t.”
This prompted Lily – who is mum to Ethel Mary, five, and Marnie Rose, four, with her husband Sam Cooper – to announce that she’s taking a break from Twitter.
“My timeline is full of the most disgusting, sexist, misogynistic, racist… Really, new levels. I’m no masochist so I’ll be back x,” she wrote.
After this, the pop star’s account was taken over by a friend, who wrote: “Hi, I’m Dennis,I’ll be looking after lily’s twitter for a while.I can only communicate in gif form, and I’m going on a hate blocking spree.”
Lily has since posted a pic of her girls on Instagram and captioned it: “Wake up call.”
